What can you do to change the lives of parent carers, babies, children and adults with disabilities/additional needs?

Support us

Whether you are a parent carer, an individual, team or organisation, your support is crucial for parent carers.  Parent Action is dependent on fundraising to support the work that we do.

Fundraising for Parent Action

We have designed and set up, a free, fundraising platform with Enthuse About us – Enthuse: Branded fundraising for charities

We have three fundraising campaigns which you can get involved with, linked to three of Parent Actions services.  Simply read about the service and our fundraising goals and choose your preferred campaign in Parent Action to support!

All fundraising for Parent Action is free to fundraisers! (unlike JustGiving for example!) All you have to do is use your creative genius, get together with friends and family, in the knowledge that ALL funds raised by your event, go straight to helping parent carers through Parent Action services!

Fundraising events can be in person, or online via the Zoom platform, as we know parent carers find it difficult to get away from their caring responsibilities for their child, to fundraise (or do anything else, like sleep, work or rest!). If you would prefer to organise an online fundraising event, contact Orla on orlaparentaction@gmail.com and we can help with that too!

To help inspire your fundraising genius, Parent Action’s A-Z Guide to Fundraising is here to help!

Donations to Parent Action

If you would prefer to  make a donation to Parent Action, rather than organise a fundraising event for us, simply click on the Donation button below.

Its quick and easy, regulated by the Fundraising Regulator  and managed by Enthuse About us – Enthuse: Branded fundraising for charities so you can be confident ALL of your donation, is being used to help parent carers and their children. Thank you so much!

VOLUNTEER WITH US!

All our work simply wouldn’t be possible without our volunteers, who play a crucial role in everything we do.

Parent carers and peers (young people and adults with disabilities/additional needs, who arent parent carers) are fully supported and trained by our Volunteer Co ordinator in Parent Action, and are also given learning and volunteering opportunities, that may help them to enter or re enter the workforce if they wish!

Our Volunteer Co Ordinator uses the Parent Action Model©, to tap into our volunteers expertise and strengths, enabling and empowering all our volunteers to reach their full potential, while sharing their skills and lived experience, to help Parent Action grow and develop our services.

Parent Action Volunteer to Staff Programmes

In Parent Action, we are committed to developing the learning and employment expertise of our parent carers and all of our volunteers, recognising each person’s strengths and knowledge in their own children and families, and each individual learners needs and priorities being at the heart of everything we do.

We want to harness those skills with parent carers, employers and public service providers, to help parent carers and adults with disabilities/additional needs, to enter or re enter the workforce. It’s important to note, that many parent carers in NI, have had to give up careers and jobs, at working age, because the state has failed to support their children with disabilities.

Collaborating with a range of partner organisations, our volunteers get support and training in children’s rights and the rights of adults with disabilities, coproduction, independent advocacy, parent carer participation and facilitation skills, as well as early intervention mental health support for parent carers and children.  All of the above training can lead to qualifications for the individual volunteer which will support everyone to advance in their employment and career journeys.

A particular focus for Parent Action in the next five years, is training and recruiting parent carers and peers, from our current volunteer teams, as Independent Family Advocates staff within our Parent Action Connects independent family advocacy service.

If you are a parent carer and wish to know more about our Volunteer to Staff plans, contact Orla on orlaparentaction@gmail.com or on 07752303854, and we would be delighted to chat with you!
